Hi, I'm Dakota!

I'm Dakota, the face behind Dakota Deanne Photography, and I'm so happy you're here!

Born and raised in Southern California, my devotion to family brought me north, and love kept me here. I reside outside Napa, California, with my amazing husband (the featured image is from my wedding day and captured by a photographer I greatly admire!) and our three crazy dogs. I currently work full-time as a Creative & Digital Marketer in the wine industry.

I started photographing at the young age of 15 with a point-and-shoot digital camera. At 16, I received my first Canon Rebel, a gift from my parents and my older brother that would bring a sense of pride to my life that I don't think any of us could have guessed at the time. I participated in Flickr's "365 Project," where I took a photo every day of myself, Photoshopped (self-taught at the time) in the strangest of settings and predicaments - this project was time-consuming, but I learned so much in that year. My hobby quickly became a passion, and I fell in love with landscape photography, capturing the beauty of nature during my time spent all over the US camping and backpacking. Now and again, I was lucky enough to capture wildlife. I was obsessed with capturing nature, but without another type of element for comparison, like a person, it was so hard to showcase the greatness of it all. I always enjoyed photographing real moments in real-time, so at the beginning of 2020, I set out to photograph those moments with people. I have created a brand and portfolio I am so proud of, and I am lucky enough to continue to grow. I wouldn't be where I am now without the support of my family, friends, and the clients I have been blessed by.
